Keep watch for a deer or even occasionally a fox. If you prefer the living room then sit in your easy chair and look out another large box window across the back yard down to the pond. You will very likely see either wild ducks or a great blue heron with black birds and cedar waxwings catching bugs over the water or even see the kingfisher catch a fish. You may also try your luck for speckled trout. The trout move into the spring fed pond for the summer.
Sit on the screened in porch and listen to the sound of spring water falling into the smaller pond just below you. In it we keep our "pet" trout which are for watching and feeding. If you like winter then you can stay all winter. There is a wood furnace as well as the stove. Just get the wood cut before winter comes! There is plenty firewood to be cut on the 29 acres that go with the house.
The basement part is fully usable. There is a family room a full kitchen and bath and a bedroom downstairs. The house is built split level and the main living area is on the upper level. There are plenty of oak cabinets in the kitchen, with an adjoining dining area. There are ceiling fans in the living room, kitchen and master bedroom.
The Raquette River is about one mile from the property. There are plenty of public boat launches, if you like boating or fishing. There are nature trails along the river which can be walked to from the property. The public school is about one and a half miles from the property. The village of Potsdam is about fifteen minutes away and has the larger stores and shopping centers. One hour drive will take you to the St. Lawrence River and the Candian border.
